Tunnels and Trolls Character Sheets

About a week ago Trollhalla member Krotaajj drew up and posted a new T & T character sheet.  This got me and several other people thinking about character sheets, so I decided to have a character sheet design contest.  We are going to need a new character sheet for Deluxe Tunnels and Trolls anyway.  Let’s see what the members of Trollhalla could come up with.

This is a contest, and you readers are the judges.  What I want you to do is rate each character sheet on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best.  Just rate them on how much you like them.  Then, email me a list of your ratings.  For doing that you will get 1000 tvp.  If you have any comments about the different sheets be sure to add them down below. The highest rated character sheets will get a prize of some sort for their creator.  Who knows?  They might even get into Deluxe T & T.

1.

My quick and dirty idea for a character sheet. Just goes to show what a bad artist I am, but the idea is here to be improved and beautified by my minions.

2.

The very complete and elegant character sheet from the new French edition of Tunnels and Trolls created by Grrraall and Ea.

3.

Revised and improved character sheet from Krotaajj.

4.

This is a 5th edition character sheet from Garrlakk.

5.

7th edition character sheets from Garrlakk with Wizardry listed as Arcane.

6.

After I put Trollhalla member Krrommpp (Steve Crompton) on the job, my idea for a character sheet came out like this. Using Vitruvian Man instead of my doodle was also my idea. Steve made it family friendly.

7.

Purely functional design from Starrf.

8.

Gaptooth has this 5th edition character sheet for us and . . .

9.

And here is Gaptooth’s design for 7th edition.

10.

What I like best about Grummy’s sheet is that it uses the Runic letters designed for our own Trollhalla font. It is also nice and clear–easy to read.

And that completes our character sheets.  If you have already voted, feel free to vote again to rate Grumlahk’s design.

  1. Here are the notes for my entry:

“This is a compact, no-nonsense character sheet designed for use with beginning T&T 7.5 characters . . . specifically those created for running through solitaire adventures. If they survive long enough for you to really care about them, you can copy them over to a more elaborate character sheet.
All of the combat-adds-contributing attributes are in the left column, with a +/- space for recording each attribute’s contribution to overall adds.”

  2. I usually use sheets that look like #7 since I tend to kill off my characters rather quickly. For those who survive, I’d transfer them unto a more elaborate sheet.

  3. I Kind of like Ken St. Andre’s, but I think they all need work. Firstly, I think attributes should be segregated. Wisdom, Intelligence, Charisma, and Luck should be on the left side of the form. Constitution, Strength, Speed, and dexterity should be on the right side. That way, non magic users can pretty much ignore the left side of the form and vice versa. A one size fits all form for all types of characters means that in actual play, it’s harder to quickly find the stats that apply to you. A better approach would be to develop two forms, one for magic users and one for fighters. Fighters use certain stats and wizards use certain stats. they should be grouped separately so that you are not scanning all over the page for, say, the charisma stat. Same with weapons and magic. Spells should be on the left side of the form with the “wizard” stats. Weapons should be on the right side of the form with the “fighter” stats.

  4. “Wisdom”, Kentop? To quote the father of the game: “Dungeon delvers don’t need Wisdom. They need Luck!

[I figure you meant “Wizardry”, I just couldn’t resist. ;)]

I love the header graphic on sheet 4, but sheets 8 and 9 seem to be tailored to my exact needs. How did this Gaptooth know?

  6. My T&T v 5 is showing. Wiz was added later, so I keep associating it with the wisdom attribute found in every other RPG. The header graphic on number 4 is nice but hogs too much space. That space is needed to annotate your character stats during gameplay. There doesn’t seem to be too much thought about the placement of items on the page. They are just sort of scattered about willy-nilly. I think Ken has the best hope for a good character sheet but it needs a lot of work too. First thing to do is get rid of the useless graphics that suck up space on the page.
