New French Edition of Tunnels & Trolls Available from Lulu.com

Yes, it’s the 7th edition cover, but the contents are very different.

This just in–Trollhalla member Grrraall, mundanely known as Patrice Greille, has just released an updated, expanded set of Tunnels and Trolls rules in French.  Pat is a professional translator, and has been working on this project for more than a year.  He has poured his own time and money into it without reservation.  He has checked with me constantly to insure that what he says is what I meant–not always the case because some things get lost in translation.  He has commissioned new art for the project from Liz Danforth (Lix Oakkheart in Trollhalla), and has paid for professional editing by Steve Crompton (Kroommmp in Trollhalla).  I have seen part of the pre-publication manuscript, and it looks great.  It is kind of odd, but I now believe that the best available edition of T & T in the world is this French one.  If you can read French, it’s a must-have.  If you don’t, it’s just a very nice addition to your collection.  Who knows? Perhaps it will inspire you to learn French, mais non?

You can see the product here:  http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/tunnels-trolls/18928296?productTrackingContext=search_results/search_shelf/center/1

As an additional incentive, if you buy one, and send a copy of your receipt to me (kenstandre@yahoo.com) during the month of March, I will award you triple tvp for the purchase.  Likewise for any other T & T products you buy through lulu.com at the same time.  When March is over the triple tvp offer fades to just double tvp for the purchase.

This is an exciting time for Tunnels and Trolls.  Great things are happening for the old game as it reinvents itself and steps up on the world gaming stage again.  It’s a great time to be a T & T player.

  1. Perhaps it needs to be translated back into English for those of us who do not speak French, lol. Is this truly an 8th edition, and what makes it different from 7.5?

  2. Haha! Why?
Because I was faster than Ken ;-) … and because I was prepared to invest enough money to have quality graphic design and artwork!
However, I gave Ken all the information he needs to make an English equivalent of this 8th French edition of the T&T rulebook, but such a project is incredibly time-consuming.
The main differences with the previous editions will be set out in an article that should be published in the next issue of TrollsZine (# 5). The structure of the rulebook is a bit different from 7/7.5 E and the French edition includes parts of the 5th/5.5 edition as well.

  3. There’s a French and an English description of the new French edition of Tunnels And Trolls here:

It also includes some examples of the fantastic new art from Liz Danforth.
